Message from the President
August 2007
Wow, can you believe it’s August already? The summer is flying by…or should I say floating by, with all of the rain we’ve had?
NAPMW-Austin hosted the annual Bottle Auction Happy Hour and Membership Drive at Baby A’s on Tuesday, July 10th. We had a great turn out and signed up several new members! Each new member or anyone who brought someone who became a member was entered into a drawing, and Jason Garza with B&G Surveying was the winner of the $50 door prize!
Our first luncheon and general meeting for the 2007-2008 year will be held Tuesday, August 14th at 11:30 at the Holiday Inn – Northwest. Doug Ruby with Summit 1031 Exchange and Christina Corich with LandAmerica –Austin Title will be speaking on Navigating the 1031 Exchange.
The National Board Meeting and Strategic Planning Session will be held September 15th and 16th in Amarillo, Texas, and the Central Region Fall Conference is being hosted by NAPMW Tulsa Green Country, October 18th-20th at the Cherokee Casino Resort in Tulsa, Oklahoma. If you are a member in good standing and are interested in attending either event, please let any board member know.
Candace smith, CMI, has accepted the position of Central Region Assistant Vice President, replacing Kerry Williams, CMI from Oklahoma City. Candace is the outgoing President for NAPMW-Austin and is currently serving as First Director on the local board. She is a great leader, very motivated and inspirational, and has been a fantastic mentor and teacher for me the past 3 years. Congratulations Candace, and thank you for all of your help and support for NAPMW-Austin and its members.
I hope you are all having a fantastic summer, and are preparing for the fall season and all that comes with it – school starting, football games, Thanksgiving, etc. I look forward to seeing everyone at the luncheon on August 14th!
