President's Message
Ahoy Mateys!
The June Bottle Auction 'Crusin' to Key West-It's Five O'Clock Somewhere!'
was a phenomenal success! With 31 Bottles, 119 happy 'Cruisers' and a
terrific MC in local comedian David Huntsberger we were bound for a
wonderful night. My personal thanks go out to every member of the Bottle
Auction Committee and Chair Shawn Sullivan (Wells Fargo) for another great
annual event and a terrific start to our year! Special thanks to those who
donated bottles and those who bid! If you missed the event this year then
don't forget to mark your calendar for next! Thank you especially for your
support of Ronald McDonald House through our piggybanks that night we raised
over $300. That does not include the donation from the bottle proceeds!
Well done all of you!
I would like to take just a moment to talk to you about investments. We are
all invested in something, someone or somewhere.
As a parent, a spouse, we obviously invest time in our family. The return
being the health and wellbeing of our children as they grown into adulthood.
In our marriage or personal relationships we strive to achieve a balance
that will bring joy and satisfaction to both members of the relationship.
We invest in our careers. Hopefully our employer sees the return in that
investment but as individuals we look for tangible and intangible benefits
in that investment. Personal satisfaction in a job well done; the ability
to make a difference in someone's life and yes the occasional paycheck are
just to name a few.
I would invite you to make an investment in your profession or if you're an
employer-your employee's profession by considering sharing NAPMW with
someone. NAPMW strives to provide educational and personal enrichment
opportunities for its members. As an example this quarter we will be
focusing on the challenges of diversity lending and underwriting in our
community. That is something that will enhance the professional in the
mortgage industry on many different levels I can promise you! Our Vice
President of Education, Angela Bujnoch (RMIC) has some great topics lined up
at both our monthly meetings in August and September and an upcoming
Education Seminar.
If you're interested in investing in the future or your employees or
yourself our President-Elect/Membership Chair, Shawn Sullivan (Wells Fargo)
or 2nd Director Beverly Kerbow (PMI Group) are anxious to talk with you.
They would love to set up a Meet and Greet in your office and spend just 10
minutes telling you about NAPMW and why your participation is so important!
I look forward to seeing you at the July Bottle Auction Thank You Happy
Hour! Until then, keep smiling!
Candace Smith, CMI
