Message from the President May 2007 President's Message Members and Board alike will be shocked to hear me say this but I don’t really have the words to express how I feel about this year with you. Candace-with nothing to say-Contact USA Today! Ok-well since your twisting my arm…perhaps I can think of one or two things to mention…. This year has been better than I could have imagined. The members of this association and our outstanding Board Members ROCK! At the beginning of the year I invited you to ‘Hang with Us’ to coin a phrase my daughter uses. And hang with us you did. Our new membership increased beyond what we had hoped. We saw members who had been away for awhile come back to us. Our retainage improved from past years as well. That is a credit to each of you who recognize the value in membership in an organization that develops relationship and education in our industry. Education also played a vital role this year. We had some dynamic individuals come to visit Austin and I think all of us came away with some great learning experiences. From the first with FHLMC coming to town and talking about Affordable Housing to the ‘Choose to Lead’ Leadership Seminar we all gained insight into our daily roles both professionally and personally. For many of you who have commented-I know that we plan to continue the ‘Choose to Lead’ Seminars in the future based on discussion I have had with your new President. We also enjoyed hanging with each other from the Bottle Auction to the Valentine Wine Tasting. A great time was had by all in each instance. (By the way….there is a rumor that the Jeannie bottle is coming back this year-not telling how!) Your contributions to the Ronald McDonald House were much appreciated whether you chose to make a financial contribution or help provide Jingle Baskets or just contributed time personally to the House. You made a Difference!! A Huge Thank you to the 06-07 Executive Board, the committees and chairs that chose to step up and make a difference for us this year. Each of you worked hard, believed in the vision and I will forever be grateful to all of you! On May 8th at the Holiday Inn we will say Thank you to the Old Board and Welcome to our new Board! Congratulations to all of you who are coming on for 07-08. I look forward to supporting you as you have done this year! Congratulations to Shawn Sullivan. I know she will do a remarkable job next year and will represent your Association well. Thank you for allowing me to serve as your President this year. It has been my honor to be of service to you!
