President's Message
Greetings!
I hope this edition of the newsletter finds all of you well and in great spirits as we all look forward to the holiday season ahead! It seems unbelievable that we are so close to 2007 and the mid-point in our NAPMW-Austin year.
We enjoyed a large turnout at the September meeting with Paige McGilloway from Texas State Affordable Housing speaking on the bond programs that they are offering. Paige was wonderful in outlining some of the benefits to lenders in utilizing these programs. Thank you Paige!
FREDDIE MAC is coming to town!!! Don’t forget to join us in October when Freddie Mac will be here to talk about marketing, originating and underwriting Affordable Housing products and Home Possible Mortgages. We are honored to be partnering with Kati Busby and Melissa Daniel with Interfirst Mortgage as well as Beverly Kerbow, PMI and Angela Bujnoch, RMIC to bring Freddie Mac here for you! The date is October 10th at the Holiday Inn Arboretum. Seating is limited so reserve your spot early. Do yourself a favor and further your growth and education in the industry you work in by attending! There is no reason for you to miss this opportunity so won’t you join us? Waiting in the wings is our Credit 101 event and Logos Strategies Speaker Amy Baker (if you need to get motivated to lead and succeed-you NEED to hear her!)
Laura Vallejo with Genworth Mortgage Insurance is our wonderful Vice President of Services and Resources (aka-Ways and Means) and she is hard at work on several different events coming up…some of the items she and her committee’s are working on include a bowling tournament; our event at Ronald McDonald House in December and just around the corner our Annual Valentine Wine Tasting Event. She and her gang have their hands full so let her know if you would like to help out! I know she would appreciate it!
All of these events are prepared with one person in mind. YOU! That is right, you. As a board our goal is to bring current, relevant education and events that will foster networking and support for every member. This industry is in a constant state of change. I was talking to someone just today about how we tend to get a little worn down by the business but we can honestly say that the ride is never boring! It doesn’t make sense to lose out on an opportunity to grow and develop your skills and abilities does it? Our Past President Rachelle Bennett (Greenpoint) said something to me last month that has really stuck with me. She said that she always made a point of welcoming people to our meetings and thanking them for investing in themselves.
Taking a page from her book-may I just say ‘Good for you!’ You’re making an investment in your future by joining us in any events we have. You are also investing in the industry you have chosen as a career. By supporting one another, our sponsors and the event itself! Way to go Austin!
I hope to see each of you very soon!
Candace Smith, CMI
